‘Christmas in July': Wimbledon’s evolution as a lifestyle brand proves it’s not just a tennis tournament
In the summer of 2023, Wimbledon’s advertising campaign tagline “Always Like Never Before” was a juxtaposition of looking to the future of The Championships while also harking back to its iconic history, “contrasting the tradition of SW19 with a new era of players making their mark on the game.” “Our core values here include heritage and tradition, so it is really important to us to look backwards without being complacent and just trading off that,” Ashmore told ABC News. This doesn’t necessarily give Ashmore a lot of leeway for creativity, especially when you are dealing with a tournament that has been around since 1877, has a basic color palette of green and purple and mandates the players on court to wear all-white outfits.

Review: To see Murphy, Reinhold and Ashton mix it up again in 'Beverly Hills Cop 4', is fine fan service
It's been 30 years since Eddie Murphy last played swaggering, smack-talking Detroit cop Axel Foley— a fish out of water in Los Angeles— in "Beverly Hills Cop 3," a sequel even Murphy called "atrocious." Look, Murphy is now 63, a settled, fatcat movie star with nothing left to prove since the first "Beverly Hills Cop" in 1984 sparked his meteoric rise as a young, boundary-pushing comic innovator. Despite its R rating, "Axel F" is the opposite of wild and untamed, preferring the easy glide of nostalgia to the hard stuff that came before.

Parenting influencers speak out as new law designed to protect kids featured on social media goes into effect
A first-of-its-kind law that requires influencers who feature their children to pay them for their work is now in effect in Illinois. The bill, which went into effect on July 1, amends the state's Child Labor Law to include children who are featured on their parents' or caregivers' social media. More specifically, it requires that children age 16 and under be compensated if, within a 30-day period, they are in at least 30% of a video or online content for which the adult, whether a parent or caregiver, is being paid.

Biden blames international travel for poor debate performance, says he nearly 'fell asleep on stage'
At a campaign fundraiser in McLean, Virginia, on Tuesday evening, President Joe Biden -- for the first time -- attributed his poor debate performance last week to the amount of foreign travel he did in June, according to notes from a small group of reporters permitted in the event. "I decided to travel around the world a couple of times," Biden said, referring to recent trips abroad, including his visit to France for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Biden said Tuesday he was sorry for his debate performance but stressed that winning the election was "critical."

Israel prepares for possible war with Hezbollah as Hamas conflict drags on
The Israeli military is preparing a phased pullout from Gaza and quietly pressing the government to broker a truce with Hamas as quickly as possible, as the military works to clear the decks ahead of what officials say could be a withering war with the powerful Iranian-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah. One Israeli official said today that if the barometer is destroying Hamas’s pre-war capabilities – which included clearly designated battalions with sophisticated coordination and communications – and removing Hamas from Gaza's government, then Israel has already achieved that. Multiple Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have signaled that Israel will begin to draw down forces in Gaza as it enters into what it has called "Phase C" of its war, with a significantly reduced number of troops focusing on what one official described as “fighting Hamas hotspots and hunting high-value targets.”

While President Joe Biden has yet to directly address the growing disquiet in the Democratic Party about his viability as the party's candidate following a universally criticized debate performance last week, the calls from current and former lawmakers, as well as key party players, are getting louder. The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's criminal hush money case in New York has postponed sentencing to Sept. 18, according to a letter sent to the parties. The move came after the Manhattan district attorney's office said earlier Tuesday it would not oppose Trump's request to file a motion arguing that his hush money conviction should be tossed based on Monday's Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity. "Although we believe defendant's arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn sentencing pending determination of his motion," assistant district attorney Josh Steinglass wrote in a letter to Judge Juan Merchan.
